Our journey started more than a decade ago
-
2006
Our founder, Nick Svendlund, arrived on the African continent for the first time as a Financial Consultant on behalf of Julius Baer Private Bank, Geneva, Switzerland. Shortly after, he was introduced to His Excellency Dr. Kenneth D. Kaunda, the first president of Zambia.
-
2007
KK's profound dedication to making a difference in Zambia led to initiatives creating financial ventures that supported his humanitarian foundation, The Children of Africa.
-
2011
SYNTRICOR was founded in South Africa with the purpose of commodity trading and consulting, aiming to support artisanal and small-scale miners. This initiative quickly led to the first mining activities in Luapula Province, Zambia, combining self-owned, mutually operated, and operationally supported sites.
-
2013
A significant drop in manganese prices halted operations, providing an opportunity to conclude on experiences made and lessons learned, particularly on how to empower locals. This laid the foundation for the Community Consolidation Concept (CCC).
-
2019
The CCC was ready to meet the market, and various test activities were designed and executed within gold, copper, cobalt, and trials with maize and peanuts.
-
2024
The final version of the CCC was defined, rolling out across Zambia with a strong focus on collaboration with traditional leaders, associations, and a key focus on Women in Mining and gender equality.
Conclusion
Our amazing journey feels like it has only just begun. The appreciation, welcome, and desire to create a better tomorrow through participation in the interdependent reshaping of the ASM and small-holder farming industry, experienced from all involved stakeholders, provide us with constant motivation and determination that it is possible to create a change for good.
